IES Supervisory System Installation

The following functions must be performed before you can run BCVision:

• Install the control software on every BC or DP Series plug-in motherboard (except the BC Supervisor) that you wish to monitor with BCVision.

• Install BCMaster on the BC Supervisor.

• Install or verify the installation of the Data Highway Adapter to the COM2 port of the BC Supervisor.

• Install the Cubix Data Highway cable.

• Set Address and termination switches on each IES Module.

• Install BCVision on the BC Supervisor.

Installing BC and DP Series Control Software

The control software must be loaded on each BC or DP Series processor connected to
an IES before the automatic Cubix Processor Recovery (CPR) function is enabled. Once CPR is enabled, the IES resets any processor that is not running BCSETUP.SYS, BCSETOS2.SYS, BCAVTIVE.NLM, or BCACTVNT.SYS.

The control software is located on the BC Series Installation Diskette. The software to be loaded depends on the operating system installed. Control software is provided for the operating systems listed below. Clicking on a selection will take you to specific installation instructions for that operating system.

Installing the BCMaster TSR on the BC Supervisor

The IES Supervisory System includes the BCMaster terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) software. This TSR must be loaded before BCVision on the BC Supervisor. BCMaster is responsible for managing the Cubix Data Highway.

To connect the BC Supervisor to the data highway, a data highway adapter must be installed and connected to the COM2 port on the BC Supervisor.

The Cubix Data highway cable connects each Cubix System in the IES Supervisory System to the BC Supervisor.

IES Configuration

Each Cubix System being monitored by the Cubix Management System must contain an IES module. All IES modules and the BC Supervisor are connected together (via the Data Highway cable) in a daisy-chained fashion. The device at each end of the chain must be terminated. In addition, each IES module must be set to an unique data highway address.

The physical location of the IES modules are as follows:

ERS/FT II System - The IES is integrated as a printed circuit board installed directly in front of the multiplexor board.

• Address and Termination Switch Settings.
  

ERS II System and older FT Systems - The IES is a stand alone circuit board that must be installed in an available slot in the backpane of each system being monitored.

SafeStor/FT II - The IES module is installed in the right most carrier location (when viewing the front of the unit).

BC Supervisor IES Data Highway Adapter - Connects the the COM2 port of the BC Surpervisor to connect it to the data highway.
