Cubix RemoteServ/IS System

RemoteServ/IS is a ERS/FT II System with pre-configured hardware and software.   It is available in three different hardware configurations.

ERS/FT II Systems are rack mount or desktop systems that can hold multiple single or dual processor independent computers. Each computer consists of a BC or DP Series plug-in computer and additional slots in the group assigned to that computer. More on groups later!

The above photo shows an ERS/FT II System with BC Series plug-in computers. Each  computer can be independently powered on or off, or reset with controls on the front panel.

Backplane

The key to flexibility in ERS/FT II Systems is the backplane. It is installed in the bottom of the processor bay, and determines how many BC or DP Series plug-in computers can be installed, and what bus or bus's are supported (ISA or PCI).

For futher hardware information, please select one of the options below depending on your system configuration.

Model 3000 - ERS/FT II System with ERS/FT II Backplanes

Model 4000 or 5000 - ERS/FT II System with PowerSMP backplanes

If you do not know which system you have, use the guide below.

Identifing RemoteServ/IS Models

To determine which model you have, follow the steps below.

1. Remove the top cover from the ERS/FT II System.

2. Look at the backplane in the bottom of the processor bay.

If the backplane looks like figure 1, you have the Model 4000 which is an ERS/FT II System with PowerSMP 4000 backplane.

If the backplane looks like figure 2, you have the Model 5000 which is an ERS/FT II System with PowerSMP 5000 backplane.

If it does not look like either figure 1 or 2, then you have the Model 3000, which uses ERS/FT II System backplanes.
