Frequently Asked Questions
Q01: Can I mix memory SIMM sizes on the board?
On the TE board, the SIMM's must be installed in pairs and must be the same size. The TS (server) board uses DIMMs and they can be mixed sizes.
Q02: I want to use a 3COM Ethernet adapter instead of the on-board adapter. Can I disable the on-board adapter ?
On the TS (server) board, you can disable the adapter in the AMI BIOS, but you cannot disable the hardware. With the TE board, you can disable the adapter in BIOS, and also disable the hardware with jumper JP5.
Q03:How can I tell if I have a TE or TS board?
The TE board has three connectors (COM1, Line Busy, Ethernet) on the end bracket. The TS board has only two. It does not have the line busy connector (RJ11).
Q04: Why do I lose my mouse when I mux between groups?
1. The mouse interrupt (IRQ 12) must be enabled in the hardware configuration (switch setting on the processor).
2. Check that the "Mouse Support Option" in the Advanced CMOS Setup section of the BIOS setup Utilities is "Disabled."
3. Use a Logitech (or compatible) PS/2 type mouse.
4. You MUST install the Cubix Mouse driver for the operating system you are using. The mouse drivers are available on the Cubix BBS in the file BC-INST.EXE. (This is a "self-extracting" file, extract the files by typing the filename followed by a " -d " to create the necessary subdirectories). For installation instructions, download BC-INST.TXT.
