Welcome to the Manageability Pack

As the computer industry grows, PC systems have become more complex and harder to manage. Historically, only experts have been able to fully understand and control these complex systems. Today’s users want manageable systems that interact automatically with the user.

Manageability Pack meets these needs. It include tools that help users and administrators to constantly monitor the operation and health of their desktops. It is based on the most common standard management interfaces, such as DMI (Desktop Management Interface) and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol).

Manageability Pack components

The following components are included in the Manageability Pack:

• The Local and Administrator versions of Intel LANDesk^® (for Windows NT and Windows 95).
• Microsoft SMS ^®support (for Windows NT, Windows 95 and Windows for Workgroups 3.1x).
• SNMP support (for Windows NT, and Windows 95) and relative MIBs (click here to download them).

Manageability Pack Prerequisites and Installation information

Before proceeding to install the LANDesk Client Manager and SMS support you must have the following installed on your system:

• A BIOS which supports DMI BIOS ver.2.0
• Windows 3.1x, Windows 95 or Windows NT 3.5 and future releases.

Before proceeding to install the SNMP support you must have the following installed on your system:

• LANDesk Client Manager

1. Select the package you want to install on your PC platform and download it on a hard drive directory.

If you are interested in installing LANDesk Client Manager, choose "Local" or "Admin" according to the functions assigned to the computer on which you are installing the software.

2. The dowloaded files are autoexpandable. Run this file and you’ll find in the same directory on your PC the selected package. Run Setup to install.

The Administrator version must be installed after you have installed the Local version. In Windows NT, the "Admin" version can only be installed by users with administrator’s rights.

3. The installation procedure proceeds in a self-explanatory way.

During the installation of the "Local" version of LANDesk Client Manager, the program prompts you to specify the configuration file to be used: confirm the file proposed.
