Powering On/Off or Resetting Individual
Computers in an
ERS/FT System

BC Series plug-in computers are installed in "Groups" in the ERS/FT System. Each group is an independent computer.  The other slot(s) in the group can be used for other boards, such as internal modems, or fax boards.

Each group can be powered on or off with switches on the power bar (behind the fans). This allows you to add or remove boards from the group, change switch or jumper settings, or upgrade memory without powering down the entire system.

Each computer can also be reset from the front panel.

To Select a Group.

1. On the front panel, select the group by pushing the Select Up or Down arrow until the correct group number displays in the LED window.

To Power a Group On or Off.

1. Set the Group number on the front panel to 0 (zero) by pushing the Enable/Disable Mux switch.

2. Use the tip of a pen to push the indented on/off switch for the group to wish to power off, as shown below.

To verify that the group power is off, check the LED's on the backplane near the L-brackets. With power turned off, they LED's should be off.

Caution: If removing boards. Always place the insulating barrier (Cubix part number 300-S06710) between the PCB to be removed and any adjacent PCB that has power on. The insulating barrier is designed to be stored on the left side of the subsystem.

To Reset a Group.

1. Use the Select Up or Down Button (figure 1) to select the group, then use the tip of a pen to press the detented button under the LED, as shown below.
