Resetting the IP address on the MaxAttach unit
  Description
Resetting the IP address on the MaxAttach unit.

Applies to: NAS 3000, 4000.

One of the MaxAttach's assets is its portability. Its compact design makes it a server that is easy to transport between different areas of your network. After moving your MaxAttach unit, you will need to reset its IP Address. The following procedure details the steps needed to reset the IP Address on your MaxAttach unit.

Procedure:

  1. Power down the Max Attach unit.
  2. Move your MaxAttach unit to its new location.
  3. Re-connect the power cable and Ethernet cable to the backside of your MaxAttach unit. DO NOT APPLY POWER TO THE UNIT AT THIS TIME!
  4. Locate the reset switch. The reset switch is located on the back of the unit, just left of the LAN connector. (see figures below)

  6. Use a ball point pen or a paper clip to push in the reset switch
  7. While continuing to hold down the reset switch, simultaneously press and release the power button once.
  8. Release the IP reset switch after 1 second, the Max Attach will continue to boot. To make sure that the unit reset, the Red Status light should blink for approximately 20-40 seconds.
  9. Once the unit is booted up, open MaxNeighborhood. After MaxNeighborhood finds the unit, the status of the unit should be New.
  10. Double click on the unit name in MaxNeighborhood and go through the setup process again. The following lists what is and is not reset:
  11.

Items that reset Items that do not reset
IP Address All data on unit
    Administrator password User information
    Date & Time Shares
