This firmware is for DAC960 P/PD ONLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have a DAC960 PL, DO NOT use !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this upgrade !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! New features have been added to the controller to improve the performance as well as the capability to disable the BIOS. VERSION Firwware BIOS PCI DAC960 P-1/2/3 2.38 1.20 PCI DAC960 PD-1/2/3 2.38 1.20 ** WARNING : IT IS ALWAYS RECOMMENDED TO BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE ANY UPGRADE IS PERFORMED, UNEXPECTED LOSS OF DATA IS POSSIBLE IF AN OLDER VERSIONS OF PROGRAM ( DAC960CF.EXE OR DAC32CF.EXE ) IS BEING USED, THAT IS NOT COMPATIBLE TO THE NEW DACCF.EXE. YOU MUST BACKUP YOUR DATA AND RECREATE YOUR SYSTEM DRIVE. ALL DATA IN THE HARD DISK WILL BE DESTROYED . UPGRADE: People interested in upgrading to the new firmware and BIOS should do the following. Note: The upgrade will involve loss of data if a stripe size other than 8K is to be used. Even if the stripe size is left as 8K, following procedure is to be strictly followed, if data loss is to be averted. 1. Disable ALL Adapter BIOS shadowing in system CMOS setup, clean boot the system from floppy. 2 . Save the existing controller configuration to a floppy by using the DACCF.EXE TOOLS/BACKUP CONFIG options. 3. ** WARNING : flashing the wrong firmware binary file will prevent the controller from functioning and will require a new EPROM from the factory. A> DAC960FL FWP.238 4. Run the new DACCF.EXE ( ver 3.10 or above ), (from seperate floppy or download file ) . If the stripe size is to be left intact, restore the backed up configuration using the TOOLS/RESTORE CONFIG option. Reboot the system and proceed normally. 5. If stripe size is to be changed, select the Advanced option from the main menu of DACCF and save the configuration. Reboot the system and proceed to install the your Operating system.( All data on disk will be destroy ).
