Drivers downloaded from the Internet or sent by email ----------------------------------------------------- The drivers are contained in a file called Drivers.exe. The Add Printer Wizard will start. 3. Follow the instructions until you are asked to select the manufacturer and model of printer to use. Click on Have Disk. 4. If installing from floppy or CD-ROM, click on the browse button and browse to the directory containing the drivers. For the floppy this normally will be A:\NT4. For the CD this will normally be D:\Drivers\NT4. The drive letter for your CD and floppy may be different. For downloaded drivers, browse to the folder that the drivers were extracted in. Click on OK in the browse window, then again on OK in the 'Install from Disk' window. 5. The Add Printer Wizard now displays a list of printers. Select the model you are using and click on Next. 6. Continue following the instructions in the Add Printer Wizard and click Finish at the end. The wizard will now install the printer driver file onto your system. 7. To complete the installation it also need to install the Microsoft Universal Printer Driver (NT4) files. If you are running Windows NT4.0 these should be installed from the NT install CD (Windows NT Workstation or Windows NT Server). If you are running Windows 2000 or if you do not have the NT4.0 CD, the English language version of the files are available in the NT4 directory of the driver disk. Note that installing these files will affect all printers using the universal driver. The latest version of the Microsoft printer driver files can be downloaded from Microsoft's web site in any language, as part of NT4 Service pack 6, but the download may take a long time. The files required are rasdd.dll and rasddui.dll. The rasddui.hlp file is not present in SP6, but is never used in practice. Use the English version on the driver disk. If you wish to install drivers for other Matrix printers, you can now find Matrix in the main list of printer manufacturers in the Add Printer wizard, and you will not be prompted to insert the driver disk or the NT setup CD.
