Quick Start Guide for WorldDesk
Applink Client for Windows NT

This procedure describes the installation and basic configuration of WorldDesk Client for Windows NT. Detailed discussion of the WorldDesk family of products, their installation and configuration is provided in The WorldDesk System Administrator’s Guide, DOC827.

The WorldDesk Client for Windows NT software is to be installed only on workstations running version 3.51 or later of Windows NT Workstation or Advanced Server.

 

Before You Begin

Before installing your WorldDesk Client for Windows NT, check to make sure you have the following:

 

Installation Procedure

Preconfigured Installation Disks

  1. Start Windows NT.
  2. Insert WorldDesk Client for Windows NT diskette 1 in the workstation floppy drive.
  3. From the "Program Manager" window, select File then Run, type A:SETUP and press Enter. (If using floppy drive B, type B:SETUP.)
  4. Insert diskette 2 when prompted.
  5. Reboot your computer after completing the installation.

Non-Preconfigured Installation Disks

  1. Start Windows NT.
  2. Insert WorldDesk Client for Windows NT diskette 1 in the workstation floppy drive.
  3. From the "Program Manager" window, select File then Run, type A:SETUP and press Enter. (If using floppy drive B, type B:SETUP.)
  4. Click Next on the Welcome screen.
  5. As prompted enter the following information:
  1. Insert diskette 2 when prompted.
  2. Reboot your computer after completing the installation.

 

Running WorldDesk Applink

  1. In Program Manager, open the WorldDesk Remote Access group window and double-click on the WorldDesk Client Manager icon.
  2. Click on the Applink button to open the Applink configuration window.

How to Change Your Password

Occasionally you may be required to change the password used to access the WorldDesk Server. To do this, make sure you are logged on to your network and complete the following steps:

  1. From the "Program Manager" window, select File then Run. Type WDSETPWD. Press Enter. The following appears on the screen:
  1. Type the required information and press the Tab key to move to the next field. When finished, click on OK.
