A Density system is fundamentally three parts, standard Intel^®-based computers,  a fault-tolerant chassis to host the computers and management/control software.

Cubix computer blades are configured as any other industry standard, standalone computers.  They have Intel processors, ECC SDRAM, SCSI and/or ATA drives, dual Ethernet ports, COM Ports, USB and PCI bus expansion.  They are compatible with Microsoft, Linux and other popular operating systems.

The difference is that Cubix packages as many as 8 blades into a single 7U fault-tolerant, managed chassis.  A shared n+1 power system, integrated KVM switch, shared CD-ROM & floppy drive, and redundant cooling systems, saves cost, space, cabling and administration requirements.
