QL 3222
Chapter 3 - Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting procedures for the line busy module are included in Chapter 9 - Hardware Reference.

If the QL processor does not function properly, follow these steps.

  1. Run QLVision. Select the QL Supervisor monitoring the QL boards. Then select the Node Functions option.
  2. F If the desired QL Supervisor cannot be selected, run Novell’s SYSCON utility and verify that the QLVISION user group has been set up on the designated server. Refer to Chapter 4 - QL Management for more information.
  3. If the node displays ACTIVE, attempt to connect to the QL workstation from the Node Functions screen. If the connection is established successfully, the QL workstation is properly installed. Any problems exhibited are due to the installation of the application software. Refer to Chapter 11 - Communication Applications for application installation instructions.
  4. If the connection is not established, and the QL workstation is not equipped with a disk drive, verify that the QL processors are booting from the default image file provided with the QL software. The default image file is QL32_DOS.LOD or QL4_DOS.LOD, and is installed in the CUBIX/QLx000/LOGIN directory on the designated server. If the processors are configured to boot from a different image file, remove the designation for that image file from the BOOTCONF.SYS file. Reset the QL processor by pressing <CTRL><ALT><DEL> (if a keyboard is available) or via QLVision.
  5. Refer to the Troubleshooting chart to determine the problem.

"Batch File Missing"

This message may appear if some versions of the NetWare LOGIN command are used in a NetWare DOS Requester (VLM) environment. It is explained below.

During a remote boot, if the NetWare login command is executed from a batch file (e.g. QLUSER.BAT) in a NetWare DOS Requester (VLM) environment, NetWare loses track of the batch file. All instructions before the login command will execute properly; however, none of the instructions following the login command will be invoked. Instead the message "Batch file missing" is displayed.

To correct this problem, update the image file to include the latest VLM files (installed in CUBIX/QLx000/VLM on the designated server). Also place a copy of the batch file containing the login command in the root directory of SYS:.
