What Are Density Systems Used For?

Density Series is the ideal server platform for deploying web services, telephony servers, remote control hosts, thin client applications, lab systems, or just consolidating multiple servers. Whether your project requires just a few servers or hundreds, Cubix systems will save you space, power and money.

Density VS 1U/2U Rackmount Servers

If you are considering 1U/2U servers, that’s GREAT!!! That means you probably need to conserve space, have a requirement for multiple rackmounted servers, need to manage your servers, and are concerned with maintaining server availability. Cubix has the perfect system for you! Cubix’s Density Series offers you features such as n+1 power, less than 1U per server, redundant cooling fans, environmental alarms, and remote management that the competition either does not offer or charges a premium for. Cubix integrates these features into the Density system for a price that beats the competition.

Deploying Multiple Servers and Cubix

When deploying multiple servers in a 19" rack, many considerations must be made beyond the processor, RAM, and hard drive configuration of the servers. For instance, how much power is available to the rack? How much power does the rack full of servers require? How large of a UPS system is required? How will you physically manage and connect 42 power cables for a fully loaded rack of 1U servers? Does the server fail if a power supply fails?  How will you know one has failed? What is the procedure for resolving the problem?

Cubix’s Density system helps ease the problems of deploying multiple servers. For instance, a fully loaded Density system with 8 server blades requires no more than 650Watts of power. Compare that with 1U servers. The smallest 1U server has a 150Watt power supply and most 2U have 200-300Watt power supplies. Therefore a comparable number of 1U servers equals 1200Watts of power. Cubix’s power system is nearly twice as efficient. This also means less heat is generated, UPS requirements are smaller, and energy costs are reduced.

Each of the three hot-swappable, load sharing, n+1 power supplies has its own cable so each supply can be sourced from a different power circuit. Should a power failure occur on one circuit, the other two continue to keep the system operational. Additionally, that means there are only three power cables for each chassis. Therefore, a fully loaded 47U rack containing six Density chassis has only 18 power cords. Contrast this with 47 power cables for a comparable number of 1U servers. That also means power strips will have to be added to the cost of your server installation. But if your power strip fails or a 1U power supply fails, you lose server availability. Cubix provides you with load sharing supplies, fault-tolerant cabling capabilities, hot-swap serviceability, and audible and visual alarms.
