The system is preconfigured with defaults that allow testing of the main components of the system with only a few configuration changes.
After verifying that the default configuration is functioning properly, the Server configuration should be modified for specific network security requirements. NetWare's Administration Guide provides the information needed to make these changes. NetWare Server User Names (Use Novell's SYSCON utility on the server console to modify):

Additional Groups Defined (Use Novell's SYSCON utility on the server console to modify):
QLVISION If Cubix QL Series boards are installed in this Server system, the QLVision management utility requires that users be a member of this group.
File Server Name: FS1
This name may be changed by the installation utility or by editing the AUTOEXEC.NCF file.
Internal IPX Number: 47A024B5
This number may be changed by the installation utility or by editing the AUTOEXEC.NCF file.
To resolve problems with any step in the installation process, refer to the full documentation for the product being installed.
1. Connect a VGA monitor and keyboard to the connectors on the back of the Cubix NetWare System.
2. Power on the system.
3. On the front panel, select the first group with the multiplexor. The monitor, keyboard, mouse, and floppy drive will now be attached to the first group.
4. The system will boot DOS and prompt the user to press the C key to continue or the A key to abort.
Press the C key to continue the installation.
5. Follow the screen prompts to select the following options for the Server installation:
Server Name Internal IPX Number Network Interface Controller (NIC) NIC Network Address Disk Controller Driver to Install QL Series Boards Installed (See Appendix A)
6. When finished with the options selection, the installation utility will copy the NetWare SERVER.EXE file to the Server. This file is on the diskette in the NetWare License envelope.
7. After the SERVER.EXE file is copied to the hard drive, the Server will boot and stop at the NetWare console command prompt.
1. At the Cubix NetWare Server console prompt, type:
CBX-COPY <ENTER> After reading the information on the screen, type: DOWN <ENTER> EXIT <ENTER>
2. Power off the Cubix NetWare Server system.
3. Connect the NIC in the Server to the network cabling system.
1. Power up the Cubix NetWare Server. It will load NetWare.
2. At a workstation on the network, run SLIST to ensure that the Cubix NetWare Server is on the network. If the Server does not show in the list, the cabling or network address set in the preceding steps may be incorrect.
3. Run Novell's SYSCON utility, select the Cubix NetWare Server and set passwords for users, GUEST and SUPERVISOR. The default setup has NO passwords defined.
4. The Cubix NetWare Server is now ready for use.
