Troubleshooting
Preventative Maintenance
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION 1) System does 1) not plugged in 1) plug in power not turn on cords 2) switch not 2) turn switch turned on on at rear of 3) safety latch subsystem not secure 3) tighten safety latch on 4) bad power top of power supply supply case 5) power supply 4) replace power not allowed to supply discharge for one 5) turn AC minute switch off that provides power to power supply and wait one minute before turning AC power on again 2) Power supply 4-wire cable from Check cable to be on but dual power supply to sure it is seated fan, group mux is defective and locked in LEDs, and video place not on 3) Power supply 10-pin relay Check cable for on, fans on, control cable is proper seating group LEDs on, defective and polarity but no slot. LEDs and no video on PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION 4) Some group 1) group switch 1) turn on group LEDs not on not on switch 2) shorter board 2) check to be not installed or sure shorter seated properly board is fully 3) group fuse(s) seated bad 3) replace fuse(s) 5) Front panel Active group Set switches for display not switch settings the configuration counting not configured (see Appendix C) properly 6) No video 1) DB-25 video 1) check cables cable(s) not for connection seated and proper polarity 2) MultiServ/FT 2) check for internal interface proper connection module cables 7) Battery test 1) Subsystem not 1) turn on light does not turned on subsystem work 2) bad batteries 2) replace batteries 8) Keylock Option switches Set option switch not not set switches working (Refer to correctly Appendix C) 9) Muxed floppy 1) mux floppy fuse 1) replace fuse does not work bad 2) BIOS not set 2) run BIOS setup 3) cables 3) check power and data cables for connection and proper polarization
PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION 10) IDE HDD 1) cables not on 1) check power does not work properly and data cables for connection and proper 2) BIOS not set polarity 2) run BIOS setup 3) IDE controller and configure HDD switched off on BC 3) turn on switch processor (see the BC Series Installation Guide for instructions) 11) Power Power supply has a Wait one minute supply will not one minute recycle before turning work after time power on to the turning power power supply off and back on 12) Mouse Mouse was moved Restart cursor stuck while multiplexor application mouse along top or channel was driver and side of screen, changed refrain from or not moving moving mouse when switching channels 13) Video not Only one subsystem Ensure no more working at a time can be than one properly in a powered down in a subsystem is multiple daisy-chained powered down at a Subsystem situation time configuration 14) Muxed Floppy disk was Reset processor floppy not being accessed and do not change found after when this channel multiplexor changing was last switched channels while multiplexor floppy activity channel lamp is on
Periodically, do the following:
1. Ensure all four subsystem fans are operating.
2. Test both battery packs using the battery test pushbuttons located directly underneath the system fans.
3. Ensure neither MultiServ/FT power supply has a fault condition.
