SP 8XXX Series On-Board
Ethernet Adapters

The board is equipped with two integral Intel 82558 PCI fast Ethernet controllers with two RJ-45 10/100 BASE-T connectors on the mounting bracket at the rear of the board.

The adapters are enabled or disabled via the "Chipset" option of the BIOS Setup utility and via hardware with two jumpers (see the Quick Reference Guide for jumper settings).

The I/O addresses and interrupts are set by the PCI plug and play BIOS at boot time.

Ethernet Adapter LED's

In each of the RJ-45 connectors and visible in the mounting bracket are two sets of light emitting diodes (LED).

On each ethernet RJ-11 Connector:

  • The upper LED emits green when the interface has a valid connection to an Ethernet hub, and blinks when there is activity.
  • The lower LED emits green when the interface is set to 100 Mbit/s.
