Dialing Out With ReachOut Viewer
Preparing the Workstation
Configuring ReachOut Viewer
If the ReachOut Viewer option is included with CubixConnect, the system may be used for dial-out access. Follow the steps below to configure a network workstation with ReachOut Viewer for dial-out capabilities.
Load NASI on the workstation to be configured for dial-out. The NASI files reside on the CubixConnect Server in the /SYSTEM/NCS subdirectory.
Sample AUTOEXEC.BAT
@ECHO OFF
PATH C:/;C:/DOS
REM NetWare ODI W/S Files
CD /NIC/SMC/DOS_ODI
LSL
PCNTNW
IPXODI
VLM
REM Load NASI
CD /NASI
NASI /V=3 /N="JOHND" /P="" /S="VIEWER"
REM NetWare Login
F:
LOGIN JOHND
Notes:
1. The NASI Name (e.g. N= "JOHND") must be a valid user name on the CubixConnect Server.
2. Cubix recommends introducing a 20 second delay before loading NASI by using the DOS 6.2 CHOICE command (or similar utility). For example:
CHOICE /ty,20 /n
These instructions assume that the Viewer is being run from DOS. If the Viewer is being run from Windows, the same functions should be performed. Refer to the online help or ReachOut documentation if necessary.
1. Install the ReachOut Viewer on the workstation according to the ReachOut Viewer Quick Start Guide provided with the ReachOut Viewer diskettes.
2. In ReachOut's SETUP utility, set the following parameters:
COMM SETTINGS
Comm port NetWare Connect ACS
NASI Server Name NWC-xxx (note 1)
NASI Service Name OUTBOUND
NASI Port Name * (note 2)
Modem Select the modem that is attached to the selected port on CubixConnect.
Data Speed Select the highest baud rate that the modem on the selected port supports.
Note 1: Enter the CubixConnect Server name selected during installation. This name is specified in the AUTOEXEC.NCF file in the /SYSTEM directory on the CubixConnect Server.
Note 2: Placing an asterisk in this field allows the ReachOut software to select any port. To use only one defined port, add the port name to this field (such as CUBIX_AIO-04).
Save the communications parameters and exit the SETUP utility.
3. To start ReachOut Viewer, type:
View <Enter>
4. From the LINK pull down menu, select:
Load Terminal Emulator <Enter>
As soon as the <Enter> key is pressed, a NASI session will be assigned to this workstation on the CubixConnect Server. On the Connect Status Screen the port status will change to:
Status Service User
Connected NCS user name
5. To add a new phone book entry to ReachOut's dialing directory, open the FILE menu and select:
NEW Phone Book Entry
Configure the communications parameters necessary, including Terminal emulation and file transfer options.
Important: Set Communications FLOW CONTROL to NONE.
Be sure to use the Save Phone Book Entry option to save any changes.
6. Select the LINK menu to dial out.
