7x2 PCI Backplane

7x2 PCI Backplane (ERS/FT II System Only)

Used only with the passive PCI bus extender card, this backplane provides seven groups of two slots each (see Figure 1).

The 7x2 backplane supports up to seven BC 5xxxSE, SP, TE or TS plug-in motherboards (with PCI extension card if PCI adapter is being installed), and one ISA or PCI adapter per BC. The 7x2 PCI backplane is NOT field configurable.

In Addition ...

A BC 5xxxSP will intrude on the adjacent ISA or PCI slot depending on the height of the BC's SIMM modules. An intrusion of up to 2-inches is possible.

If a bus segment requires ISA only (no PCI interface), the BC plug-in motherboard
can be installed without the PCI extender card.

Note 1 - Only one adapter may be installed here; either PCI or ISA. The slot cannot support both PCI and ISA simultaneously.
