It adds a number of new commands to the CLI and fixes some minor problems. The New Commands ---------------- To use the new commands, just follow the prompts displayed when you access the CLI. Note the unique capitalization of the displayed commands. Below the commands are shown all in capital letters to distinguish them from common text. However commands must be entered in lower case. Limitation : The input is restricted to 80 characters only. A new top-level command for the administration of SNMP functions has been introduced - SNMP. Under this you will find: COMMUNITY sets the SNMP community string GET gets SNMP objects NEXT gets the next SNMP object(s) SET sets SNMP objects TRAP administers SNMP trap destinations using - DEFINE defines a new trap destination DISPLAY displays all trap destinations MODIFY modifies a trap destination REMOVE removes a trap destination An additional command for the administration of security is found under SYSTEM - SECURITY. Under this you will find: USER - from which you may: DEFINE defines a new user DISPLAY displays all users MODIFY modifies a user REMOVE removes a user ACCESS - from which you may: DISPLAY displays access rights MODIFY modifies access rights Additional commands for the administration of ports are found under ETHERNET - AUTONEGOTIATION enables / disables autonegotiation FLOW CONTROL enables / disables flow control (for full duplex only!) PORT MODE sets the port speed and duplex mode Bug Fixes --------- 1) The Switch would wrongly transmit ICMP error messages in response to IP broadcasts in a different subnet. 2) CLI port statistics for non-unicast traffic are now correctly shown. 3) When a resilient link switched from main to standby or vice versa, it would continue to send traffic to the failing link, causing a loss of communication. 4) Enabling "Port Based Security" using a web browser now works correctly. =============================================================================== 3: Upgrading the Software =============================================================================== The management software can be upgraded by using a TFTP Server or by using the Management Software Upgrade Utility supplied with your Switch. - To upgrade your software using a TFTP Server, you need to place the file s2s01_07.bin in the appropriate directory on the server. Note: 3Com provides a DOS-based TFTP Server on the 3Com Bulletin Board. For information on how to use the Server, refer to the file 3comtftp.txt that is supplied with it. - To upgrade your software via the serial link using the Management Software Upgrade Utility, you need to place the file s2s01_07.bin in a directory accessible by the PC running the utility.
